'The Modern Jungle' will have its U.S. Premiere at the 23rd edition of the Slamdance Film Festival

"The Modern Jungle" will be having its U.S. Premiere at the 23rd edition of the Slamdance Film Festival. The film is part of the official documentary competition.

Directed by Charles Fairbanks and Saul Kak, "The Modern Jungle" looks at both the Zoque culture and the tensions that arise because of globalization. It documents the struggles and encounters of the local characters.

"The Modern Jungle" is set in the region of la selva negra ("The Black Jungle"), in Southern Mexico.

The documentary received its world premiere at the Visions du Reel and was part of the official selection at the Guanajuato and Morelia International Film Festivals.

The Slamdance Film Festival takes place Jan. 20-26, 2017 in Park City, Utah.
