Kino Lorber has just announced the New York theatrical premiere of "Beuys." The documentary directed by Andres Veiel will have its premiere at Film Forum on January 17. After that, the film will expand to other national markets in February and March 2018.

The film is about the charismatic and controversial German artist Joseph Beuys (1921-1986). He was a messianic figure, alternately considered a shaman, a kook, a radical political activist, and a breakthrough artistic genius. For the documentary, Veiel used a rich trove of never-before-seen archival footage.

"Beuys" was produced by Thomas Kufus and the archive producer was Moni Preischl. It was edited by Stephan Krumbiegel and Olaf Voigtlander. The music was done by Ulrich Reuter and Damian Scholl and the sound was done by Hubertus Mull and Matthias Lempert.

So it will have a two-week engagement from Jan. 17 to Jan. 30 at Film Forum. To learn more about showtimes, etc, please click here.
